Math Graphing Favorite Fruits

Objectives of Technology:

 

Clickers- I will list five types of fruit on the screen at the front of the classroom and students can vote on their favorite fruit.

 

Microsoft Excel- Students will take turns entering their information into an excel spreadsheet which can be converted into a graph.

 

World Wide Web- Students will use the internet to find a picture of their favorite fruit.

 

Software and Hardware requirements:

 

Clickers- Clicker software hooked up properly to the  computer and enough clickers for students in the classroom.

 

Microsoft Excel- Installed on a computer in classroom.

 

World Wide Web- good connection to the internet and web browser.

 

Skills required-

Teacher- The teacher needs to be familiar with the Clicker software and able to enter data in an Excel spreadsheet.  The teacher also needs to know how to access pictures from the internet.

 

Students- Students need to know how to use clickers and also how to enter fruit names on a search engine. Students also need to know how to enter data on a spreadsheet.

 

Reflection on Technology:  The clickers will give the teacher and students immediate feedback on the classes preferences on fruits. The excel software can be used for students to enter  their data into the spreadsheet. Looking for pictures on the internet will give the students experience using the internet to find pictures.

Objectives of Technology:

 

Kids Pix- Students can draw a picture of something that is about them from the list of questions asked in this lesson.

 

Video Camera- Each student will say their name and one thing about them, to create class introductory video.

 

Audacity Software- Students will be able to make a recording of their voice using this software. They will say their name and something about them.

 

 

Software and Hardware requirements:

 

Kids Pix- All computers that will be used in this lesson should have Kid Pix properly installed.

 

Video Camera- Video cameras should be charged up and tapes should be ready.

 

Audacity – Should be loaded on computer that students will be working on.

 

Microphone- Should be available for students to record their voice.

 

Skills Required- 

 

Teacher- The teacher needs to know how to use the program Kids Pix to be able to explain to their students. The teacher also needs know how to operate a video camera and how to use it with the computer. The teacher also needs to know how to use the Audacity software and microphone.

 

Students- Students need to know how to use the Kid Pix software. Students will need to know how to act while being recorded on video. The teacher will do the recording but the students will be speaking. The students also need to know how to use the audacity software.

 

Reflection on Technology- The Kids Pix software will give the students experience using a program to create pictures on the computer. The video recorder will be good for students to see how video cameras can be used and the audacity software gives the students experience recording their own voice.
